Last month I asked all of you what you’d like to read from me next. The answers totaled up to a slight preference for fantasy over science fiction, which fits perfectly with what I was leaning toward anyway. Fantasy it is! (Don’t lose hope, my fellow sci-fi lovers. I’ll get to that story eventually.)
I’ve started writing Julianna’s story. She’s a young woman who has just become a duchess, a role that certain people would be happy to take from her. Fortunately, she has friends, an owl, and plenty of determination.
This story will follow my Castle in the Wilde series, but it’s set in a different kingdom of that world. I love this stage of writing because it’s like planting a seed in my garden. The story is just sprouting. I know the basics, but not what the flowers will look like. I can hardly wait to discover how Julianna will overcome her obstacles and find her hopeful ending.
To get it off to a good start, I got together with a few author friends for a mini writing retreat. Here’s a shout-out to Bridgette, who hosted Rachel and me last weekend, and to Sarah, and Julia who joined us when they could. Here we are at the end of a productive weekend.
Since some of my newsletter readers are new, I’ll share a little about the series I mentioned. One of the stories I give to new subscribers is A Castle Lost. Misshelved Magic by S.R. Crickard
I really loved this cozy fantasy. Endearing and unique characters, a library with secrets, and a sweet romantic subplot make this story a truly enjoyable read. I highly recommend it.
