Do you like to travel? I do. Join me for a peek at my road trip across the northeastern United States.
I often collect ideas for my story worlds on trips. For instance, Tower Woods, found between the pages of the Castle in the Wilde series, is inspired by the redwood forests of northern California.
I’ve been known to get carried away with my camera, but I’ll keep it down and just share a few favorites with you. Our first stop was my husband’s choice: The National USAF Museum at Wright-Patterson. I’ve never seen a stealth plane before. This monster makes my house look tiny.

Drop back two and a half centuries. George Washington lived here while transforming a ragtag militia into an army that ultimately defeated the British. I don’t think he could have imagined that B2.

Now jump to the 1890s and the Gilded Age. The breccia marble in this summer cottage called The Elms is amazing.

And of course, you cannot have a little cottage like this without a formal garden. Here is a wee sliver of it.

Enough of what people created. We finally reached the Atlantic Ocean. Acadia National Park in Maine was one of my favorite stops on this trip.

This one reminds me of a scene in A Castle Awakened. Taughannock Falls may look small, but it’s a drop of 215 feet, complete with majestic roar and misty air.

After a week at home, I’m getting ready for a trip to the Realm Makers Writers’ Conference. I can hardly wait.
