So many fantasy books to choose from. How do you decide which ones to read?
Maybe someone told you about a book. That’s my favorite way, but let’s face it, tastes vary. There’s the book description and reviews. Also useful, but sometimes I’ve been, uh, puzzled when I dove into the actual story. I bet you know what I mean.
Another way is to talk with the author. Very fun, but hard to arrange. Maybe I can offer at least half of that to you now. Here are a couple questions and answers.
What sub-genre of fantasy is the Arts of Substance trilogy?
It’s a blend. The adventure is epic, but the vibe is cozy. Alongside the risks, you’ll discover family, friendship, and hope.
Where did you get the idea for this fantasy world?
My stories grow from reality. The first glimmer of this trilogy sparked years ago when a hurricane followed a major earthquake. What if…a creator granted the ability to control natural forces? Not elemental magic, but something more on the creator’s level?
That could be really cool, but it could also be destructive. The power would need limits… skill… wisdom… daring. Fantasy, yes, but reality is like that too.
